Background: (so far)

Originally hailing from what is now known as Wische, Ulrich's family held noble status there for as long as he can remember.  His family was well off and never had much for hard times; however, while he was still a young man much of that changed when the country was engulfed by war; the War of the Cross.  His father was called into battle along with his older brother.  Several years passed as Ulrich grew with little news of them.

One fateful day, a messanger from the Eisenfurst came to the keep.  He bore ill news of both his father and brother.  They had fallen in the battles that were tearing apart the land.  Both their bodies had been recovered from the field and returned home with the messanger.  As the now eldest man in the house, his father's suit of armor fell to his possession.  Unfortunately, his father's Zweihander was reportedly lost to looters.  Not heeding any other choices, Ulrich donned the armor and marched out to face enemy.

Ulrich managed to survive till the end of the war nearly 20 years later.  He joined the prodigious Roaring Drachens, Wische's Iron Guard, in order to further serve his home as he didn't have much else to fight for any longer.  Disease, which had ravaged the lands during and after the war, had claimed the remnants of his family while he was away.  Left with little else, Ulrich brooded in his empty keep and did whatever was required of him by the Guard.  When the commission from the Eisenfurst started becoming IOUs, Ulrich slowly approached the decision that it was time to move on.

One dreary day, a letter came to him from a man in Frieburg.  The man owned an Inn and was being harassed by a homeless man claiming he was good for paying off his outstanding bill because he was a member of a noble family.  The homeless man had sited Ulrich's family name as his own, and so the inn keeper had written in hopes of getting his money.  Ulrich, deciding it was worth the effort to potentially claim something back that he had thought lost to him, packed what he could, including his suit of armor, and set off for Freiburg.  He arrived at the Inn and paid the bill, but the homeless man had left some time ago and the inn keeper had no idea where he had gone.

This is where we find Ulrich now.  A single man in the huge city of Frieburg hopelessly searching for a nameless bum living somewhere in the streets.  If his family can be rebuilt, perhaps there is hope for the rest of the country after all.

This sounds like a neat character. How did you spend 43 points on Drakenheisen? I thought it only came in 10, 20, and 40 point increments. If you're interested, I was hoping we could tie our backgrounds together on Thursday. Gregor owes a large debt to a Wische noble, and there might be some way we could incorporate that into our backgrounds.

The optional spikes and other add-ons cost HP, rather than the Armor Points you get form the 40 HP. So, you pay 40 HP to get 16 AP, and use that to buy weapons and armor. You can spend more HP to buy things like spikes, fixed mounted crossbows, and the like. I tihnk that's what he did.

Oh yeah. That makes sense. I got a nice set of spikes on my panzerhand as well.

Yeah, it was just extra addon stuff.

Background ties would be cool, I'm sure we could work something out.
